Musical InterludeI'm A Survivor - Reba McEntireI was born three months too early The doctor gave me thirty days But I must've had my mama's will And God's amazing grace I guess I'll keep on livin' Even if this love's to die for 'Cause your bags are packed and I ain't cryin' You're walkin' out and I'm not trying To change your mind 'cause I was born to be Chorus: The baby girl without a chance A victim of circumstance The one who oughta give up, but she's just Too hard headed A single mom who works two jobs Who loves her kids and never stops With gentle hands and the heart of a fighter I'm a survivor I don't believe in self-pity It only brings you down May be the queen of broken hearts But I don't hide behind the crown When the deck is stacked against me I just play a different game My roots are planted in the past And though my life is changin' fast Who I am is who I wanna be Repeat Chorus A single mom who works two jobs Who loves her kids and never stops With gentle hands and the heart of a fighter I'm a survivor But I must've had my mama's will And God's amazing grace 0 Comments | Send To Friend | 9 October 2008

Anniversary DestinationsSo...my man are slowly appriaching our one year anniversary (nov) and it hasn't been an easy ride to say the leastSince we've decided to likely slag off somewhere and to the trip/us time thing we're starting to get into planning mode now... So far the front runners are NYC, Savannah Georgia, Salem Mass. I'd like to keep it to driving distance but he also has a friend in GA we could visit and he is dying for me to meet. So thats another possibility... What do y'all think and if you had something like this coming up where would you go? 0 Comments | Send To Friend | 21 August 2008
Tricking ChildrenNow I'm not generally an advocate of giving into childrens unreasonable demands but sometimes we parents do take the path of least resistance.Take today for example...I have a headache, the kids have been inside all day cause of the rain and my youngest hasn't eaten anything. Now beyond being picky, he's also stubborn So for dinner I made his favorite food of all time.................oatmeal Not your general dinner fare...but I managed to get in all the food groups, thus tricking him I took half a cup of oatmeal (old school rolled oats) two egg whites whipped up w/ a bit of milk and half a cup of water. Nuked this for 2 min, stirred and nuked for another min Then I added grated apple, a huge dollop of vanilla yogurt and like usual...brown sugar and milk Now my son isn't the brightest bulb in the tanning bed...so because I used all white or tan-ish colored food he is happily eating it while I rest my weary head What kind of ways have you found work well for "tricking" your kids into eating healthy or doing stuff they otherwise don't wanna do? 0 Comments | Send To Friend | 24 July 2008
